Thank you Jessica

Thank you Jessica

Jessica and I have been working closely as co-working photographers since 2005.
New paths have come, and her solo and wedding photography businesses have done well.

She has contributed so much to Big Day and me personally.
We have gone through the lean and fat times together.
We also have learned many lessons along the way.

A big shout out to David who was always such a good sport and pack mule for us.
(My memory of David is carrying all the equipment up the streets of New York
and manually holding the second light there and in San Antonio.)

Congratulations to the both of you.

These are some photos I took for Tifany Lee's second album, Big Bad World.
I usually don't shoot that dark, especially with weddings, but it was a nice change.

School Days – Part Deux

School Days – Part Deux
Fri, 11/21/2008 - 1:00pm

This is a picture that has survived from my school days.
I know it looks "studenty" to other photographers. That's because it is.
I messed with multiple exposures on a single frame of medium format film.
There is no digital editing whatsoever in this image. I used a flash to make the stars.
That's why they're so uneven.

Let's jump into the way back machine. Well, not too far back.
This is a picture of me when I had long hair was was going to photography school.
For those interested, I went to Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA.

Thu, 07/31/2008 - 4:00pm

At 4:00PM EST July 31st 2003 Big Day Photography was born.

It was originally called Weddings by Rafael and the first wedding posted was my best friend from high school's wedding, Linda.

That was where I fell in love with wedding photography.

I'd like to thank all the clients and vendors that has helped Big Day grow and be the company it is today.

Thank you.

Poker night with other wedding photographers

Poker night with other wedding photographers
Sat, 06/28/2008 - 11:39am

Wednesday night I joined in on a poker night with other wedding photographers.
Chris Torres from 6 of Four Creations hosted the evening at his studio.
Thanks Chris.

These are rare moments since it's a super busy time for us all.
Mark Adams from LaCour won the pot and I came in second.

Click on the link to see the Flickr pictures that Jason Spruill from Weddings by Jason took.
See if you can spot yours truly.

My goal this week

My goal this week
Wed, 06/18/2008 - 11:29am

My goal this week is to have all four weddings from the past two weeks online.
It's quite a feat considering the wedding from Spartanburg, SC contains the most pictures ever taken in the history of the company.
Wish me luck!

I also photographed a folklorico troop.
It was lots of fun and colorful. Every kid looked really happy in their outfits.

Stephanie & Vineel's wedding was so beautiful and emotional.
I'm still feeling the afterglow myself.

We're still in the process of finalizing the edit for online posting, but if you're interested, check out Jessica's blog for a sneak peak.
